Navigating the Stream of Consciousness: Ayahuasca Guidance

by Avalon

Among all the concerns, questions, and doubts that people approach us with, the worry about trustworthy and competent guidance during the process ranks first from our experience. "What happens if I feel unwell, am I in good hands with you?" Although this question is not usually asked so directly, it's clearly readable in their eyes during discussions. Since "guidance" might mean different things to different people at this point, I would like to make the following distinction—guidance before, during, and after the ceremony.

Guidance Before the Ceremony

Before you decide to join a ceremony with us, you can contact us at any time, schedule an appointment, and get to know us in an initial conversation where you can ask all your questions. We are happy to share our experiences, stories we have lived through, and the knowledge and wisdom we have learned from Mother Ayahuasca over the last 20 years. We truly take time for you and address your individual questions and needs specifically. Here, you can feel free to express all your fears, worries, intentions, and questions.

Guidance During the Ceremony

During the ceremony, Dr. Himmelbauer sings what are known as Icaros, partly in German, partly in Spanish. Icaros are healing songs delivered through plant spirits in ceremonies during training by direct experience. They generally cannot be transmitted from person to person; the shaman learns directly from the plant. Therefore, these Icaros are very individual and personal, and you will hear something different from each Ayahuasca ceremony leader and consequently experience different internal spaces. Each Ikaro opens predetermined doors and gates into spaces of other dimensions and levels. This is a very complex topic and can hardly be explained in words or comprehended by the mind, because even though an Ikaro opens a door to such a space, every participant ends up in a different room. Thus, this is a very powerful and at the same time very multi-dimensional tool. The purity of the heart and intentions matter, both from your side and from the side of the ceremony leader. This purity is crucial for whether you find yourself in bright, healing spaces or dark, frightening ones. There are plenty of stories online about what happens when you participate in ceremonies with someone who does not embody this purity. There are many good people worldwide providing beautiful ceremony guidance, some with more experience, some with less.

Questions You Might Ask a Ceremony Leader as a Guide and Decision Aid:

  • What other projects are they pursuing in life?
  • What is their relationship with God?
  • What is their intention in holding the ceremonies? If you want to know more about the answers to these questions regarding Dr. Himmelbauer, you can arrange a talk with us or browse his website at https://www.otorongo.net/.

Guidance After the Ceremony

As soon as the ceremony officially ends, you remain lying down or go to your bed, and Mother Ayahuasca continues working actively with you. You can rest until the next day for as long as you want until you feel fit for breakfast and the debriefing. Once everyone is awake and has eaten, the debriefing begins. Our group consists of a maximum of 12 participants, ensuring that you get as much space and time as you need to share everything that is on your heart and express everything that needs to come out. You will be clearly seen and receive valuable insights and answers about what is happening inside you. The advantage you have with us is that you get both insights from the perspective of the shamanic world as lived by shamans in the jungle and from our German-speaking/European culture, which is built very differently and functions differently than what a traditional shaman from Peru might know. Thus, you get the best of both worlds, which many of our participants highly appreciate. We have also often received feedback that they only understood what it was all about with us because it was not explained in a way that was understandable to them in Peru.

If this appeals to you and you are also looking for trustworthy guidance, feel free to write to us. Our next retreat in Niederösterreich will take place from June 6 to June 9, 2024. We already have enough participants to ensure it will go ahead, but you can still reserve a spot for yourself in a wonderful and magical group.
